(IFO) March 15th: Tucson, AZ | Southwestern International Raceway
One of our favorite automotive events to compete and attend is Import Face Off. This event not only showcases the best vehicles in the area, but also allows the fastest to compete in drag racing all day. A delightful treat to those who enjoy racing and show cars.
Over the last decade, we have competed in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Las Vegas, Fontana, Tucson, Phoenix, and even El Paso. On the weekend of the 15th of March, Projekt Cars organized a small caravan of 5 vehicles to conduct a road trip to Tucson, for the IFO car show/ race at Tucson International Raceway. Much as expected, the IFO staff, led by Cliff Wallace, was very accommodating to our group, and allowed us to set-up a large display area.
We were greeted by Javier of JDM Fresh, Ken Michaels of Ken’s Polishing, and Brendan Garvey, creator of some very trick shift nobs. Unfortunately, everyone’s favorite judge, Micheal Roachman was not at the event, but the competition was judged fairly none the less. Unlike other shows, IFO brings in their own judges, instead of hiring local talent. This eliminates favoritism, and allows for consistency across their 35+ National shows.
Once our set-up was complete, we were able to talk to show goers of the R1 Concepts brake parts available for their vehicles. We also took some photos and a lot of video with the newly acquired gear for the Hero4s. There were many new vehicles to film, so we expect the video will be worth watching on our YouTube Channel, ProjektCars (shameless plug).
Overall the organization did fairly well, winning SIX trophies with 5 vehicles, here are the winners:
- Alma Molina won Best Truck/SUV | Chevrolet Silverado
- Hector Luna won Best Paint | Dodge Charger
- Graciela Torres won Best Female Ride | Ford F-150
- The e92 Best Interior and Best Euro | BMW 335i
- Projekt Cars to home Best Team.
What a weekend! Very grateful for all those who support us
