SOLDIERCON Background & Introduction

As we venture into another year of Soldiercon I wanted to put together information on the background and the current state of the event with links to help future attendees and artists decide if they would like to attend.  We have been very fortunate to have several known artists attend our events over the years, and look forward to having them return with additional talented individuals.  Our next planned Soldiercon will be May 30-31, at the Ft Bliss Museum, see above pic

I have been involved with show car community since the late 80’s.  From competing in National shows, building SEMA vehicles (since 2000), marketing director for various companies, to executing major car shows.  To this date, I have placed over 300 vehicles at the expo.  Due to my experience, Ft Bliss AAFES has asked me to organize/conduct a yearly car show for the last Five Years.

During 2016, we (Projekt Cars) initiated the Spawn Concept vehicles, and began discussing details with the Todd McFarlane Group.  The request to build several Spawn vehicles were approved, and we debuted three Spawn inspired themed vehicles at the 2017 Amazing Las Vegas Comic Convention.  During this time, AAFES asked me to coordinate a comic con on the installation.  I did not know the challenges I would face, but I took on the task.  Eventually I realized that organizing/executing a comic con is 10 times more difficult than a car show.

After several promotional appearances in local events, we launched our inaugural SOLDIERCON in June, 2018.  The two-day event was a huge success.  We were able to combine the aspects of a car show, cosplay contest, and comic con, at a military installation.  Due to the requests we received, we decided to make this a yearly event in Ft Bliss, and to bring this type of entertainment to other military installations

The SEMA Show takes place November 5 – November 8, 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center located at 3150 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada. The SEMA Show is the premier (and largest) automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more.  Since 2000, we have provided over 300 Booth vehicles to SEMA companies, averaging between 10-30/year.  The significance of the booth vehicle is that said vehicle will represent the company for the following year.  It is not only an honor to have a vehicle in a booth, it takes having a company entrust you with the reputation of their brand.

  • Over 500K people attend the week long SEMA Exposition, with over 2,000 booths, and 5,000 vehicles on display
  • It is the SUPER BOWL of automotive events

  • PORPOSE of Soldiercon is to bring the comic/car show/cosplay community to the military, while providing a safe venue for those who conduct business in those industries
  • GOAL: Our overall goal for our events is to create fun, inspire enthusiasts, and help unique communities grow
  • LONG TERM GOAL: Provide this event to military members stationed overseas in cities such as Japan, Vicenza, Frankfurt, Longstuhl, and Darmstadt

The concept of Soldiercon is to infuse comic, automotive, and cosplay passion into one event.  This concept originated in Ft Bliss, Texas and will continue to grow with venues in Ft Carson, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona.  After several years of organizing car shows on Ft Bliss, I was asked to see if I could also organize/execute a comic con.  This was requested by the Director of AAFES in 2016, since I was then starting to work with Todd McFarlane.  Being not only a veteran, but also having a father who was deployed a lot, I understood the hardships dependent mothers face.  To go to any event outside of military housing is sometimes a logistical nightmare when you have two or more children.  Add the cost of tickets and parking, the hassle and costs deflate the excitement of going to events outside the base.  So, I was determined to create a Family Friendly event that would be affordable to any family on base.
